Relocating to Tehachapi?
A local guide to living, working, and buying a home in Tehachapi, California.
Why People Are Moving to Tehachapi
Tehachapi sits at 4,000 feet in the southern Sierra Nevada, offering four seasons, clean air, and mountain living within reach of Bakersfield, Lancaster, and the greater LA area.
Affordable Mountain Living
Compared to coastal California, Tehachapi offers significantly lower home prices. Homes in town start in the mid-$200s. Properties on acreage in Bear Valley Springs and Stallion Springs range from the $300s to over $700,000. For remote workers, retirees, and families looking for more space, Tehachapi delivers real value.
Four Real Seasons
Tehachapi gets snow in winter, wildflowers in spring, warm summers, and crisp fall color. The elevation keeps temperatures 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the valley floor. If you are tired of flat, brown, and hot, Tehachapi is a welcome change.
Small-Town Community
Tehachapi has a population around 12,000. The downtown district hosts local shops, restaurants, and events like the Tehachapi Mountain Festival and Apple Festival. Neighbors know each other. Traffic does not exist. Crime rates are low.
